Ganim’s Budget Holds The Line On Taxes, More For Education But Far Less Than Requested

Mayor Joe Ganim’s proposed $638 million spending plan submitted to the City Council’s Budget & Appropriations Committee keeps taxes flat while adding $3 million more to education, albeit about $14 million less than requested.

The $3 million extra for education is the largest one-year increase by Ganim since his return to the mayoralty in 2015, but will not assuage education advocates as the school system deals with a fiscal cliff from dried up federal Covid relief.
