A fire early Thursday morning destroyed a Main Street condo complex in the North End, just two blocks from the Beechmont Garden Apartments where former State Rep. Chris Caruso resides. Caruso says he received several calls from city residents wondering about his safety upon news reports of a fire at Beechmont Gardens. Caruso says the actual blaze was a few blocks away, far enough in fact that he “slept right through it.”
The North End firehouse is located a short distance from the scene of the fire. Dozens of residents have been displaced and several were injured. The condo complex is located near the location of the annual North End Christmas tree lighting.
