CANDIDATE FOR U.S. CONGRESS STEVE OBSITNIK RAISES $256,231 IN CAMPAIGN’S FIRST QUARTER
NORWALK, January 31, 2012 – Steve Obsitnik, Republican Candidate for U.S. Congress from Connecticut’s 4th District, announced today that his campaign raised $256,231 in the first quarter of fundraising, which ended on December 31, 2011. At the end of the same period, the Obsitnik Campaign had $234,345 cash on hand. Mr. Obsitnik, a military veteran, businessman, entrepreneur and local educator, announced his candidacy in Bridgeport, CT on November 15, 2011.
“We are very encouraged by the strong support we are receiving from concerned citizens across the 4th District,” said Mr. Obsitnik. “Our results show that we are well positioned to raise the funds necessary to beat Jim Himes in November, and that we have been responsible stewards of the donations made to our campaign.”
Steve Obsitnik has been a technology industry entrepreneur and small business executive for more than 15 years in both the Silicon Valley and Connecticut. Mr. Obsitnik is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with honors. Prior to Annapolis, Mr. Obsitnik graduated from Stamford High School in 1985 where he was a captain of the varsity soccer team. He served for five years in the U.S. Navy, primarily as a Lieutenant on board the U.S.S. Ray, a nuclear attack submarine. After completing his naval duty, Mr. Obsitnik attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Master’s in Business Administration with a degree in finance. He is also an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at the Jack Welch College of Business at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. Mr. Obsitnik lives in Westport with his wife Suzanne and their two children.
