After 10 years we’re undergoing a makeover, an exfoliation, a nip and tuck, a cleansing of whiteheads, blackheads, crows feet and jowls, and anything generally droopy. It’s time for a redesign of OIB. When we started this thing more than 10 years ago we were considered hip at the front end of the newfangled blogging revolution. Thousands of blogs have come and gone, but thanks to you we’re still very much among the living, and growing this online news site. We’ve evolved editorially in recent years segueing from narcissistic political observations to breaking-news oriented topics focused on government and politics. The look, however, has remained the same. Now it’s time to modernize.
Susan Katz, OIB’s artistic director and professor of communications at the University of Bridgeport, has been with us from the ground up. A lot of stuff goes on behind the curtains here and sometimes I’m not at the controls. That’s where Sue and our mischievous webmaster Ray Fusci come in. I can string a sentence together a little, but creating and building the set of a website is not my shot of Bombay Sapphire. This requires a little tonic and lime to complete the pleasure.
While the look and feel will change, editorially we will essentially be similar, except largely in appearance which we hope will be more pleasing to the eye while providing more editorial options on the homepage. The comments section that pulsates this place remains the same. You will log in per usual.
We plan to launch the new look within the next week or so. Please hang with us because navigating mountain ranges of information to a new site is not a layup and may lead to some glitches along the way.
So onward. Thanks for being fabulous company.
Facial? Well I suppose this really is a political porn site.
Yes, 10 years of political porn and growing.
High Colonic!
Meh…
Lennie, will you prohibit the use of pseudonyms?
Yes. I’ll only allow in rare instances such as a city employee who fears retribution, but they must reveal their identity to me.
good! I’d love to see some of these people post under their *real* names!
Too bad for you, Tom.
Lennie, any thought of making this a “message board” format, that way as new developments, ideas, problems etc go on with the different topics,we could simply find the tread and bump it to the top.Alot of times with this format, topics get forgotten about as new ones are put up, gabish?
Maybe it’s time for you to retire and let Mo take over the editorial comment. Maybe it won’t be as slanted as yours tends to be.
Good timing, Lennie… OIB will gets its B-12 injection and makeover just in time to resonate with the expanding political consciousness churning nationwide/globally as we blog here in the Bridgeport area…
It all started in August 2007 I was going into my junior year of high school. I saw a year sign that read bill finch for mayor I google search it up and an article from only in bridgeport poped up in my news feed. Ever since that day I have been a political junkie ever since. I think at the time oib was a blog on on another site then. Love the content and alot of things happening in bpt I would not know about without this site!! Thanks Lennie for all the good reads and giving us not just bridgeport in general news but giving us neighborhood insights because every side of bpt is different. Through out the last 11 years I’ve lost interest and gain interest in different things but my interest in oib has not changed since 2007. Keep the good articles coming!
Thank you, donj!
