Mayor Bill Finch, Police Chief Joseph Gaudett, City Council representatives and family members gathered on Capitol Avenue on Wednesday afternoon to ask the public to help police identify the driver involved in a hit-and-run on Tuesday night that left a two-year-old critically injured.
“We need the public’s help in finding the person who did this,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “We’re all here to support the family during this difficult time–we need the community to come together and support this family. If anyone out there has information about the driver of this car, I urge you on behalf of Corey and his mother, to come forward and call the Bridgeport Police Department.”
The two-year-old’s mother was holding the child’s hand as she was taking her other child out of her car when the accident happened at about 9:10 p.m., Tuesday. The child was being treated at Yale-New Haven Hospital and is listed in critical condition.
Police Chief Gaudett urged anyone who has information about the accident to call the Bridgeport Police Department at 203.576.8126, or text information to CRIMES (274637) then TIP717 in the body of the text message.
