From John “Salty” Soltis, Assistant City Librarian:
While the Bridgeport Public Library remains closed during the COVID-19 emergency, the library’s digital services are still available for residents looking for information, study help, ebooks, audiobooks, children’s ebooks, music and movie streaming and much more.
Library staff are working behind the scenes to help you renew a card, apply online for a new library card, and answer any other questions you may have. Visit the library’s website at www.bportlibrary.org to gain access to all of the library’s online resources. Some helpful tips:
— Need to renew your card or have a question? Look for our Ask Us First on our homepage and ask us a question by filling the online form. A library staff member will answer your question or help you get a library card right away.
— Bridgeport residents can apply for a library card online and “check-out” movies, music, ebooks, magazines and audiobooks online from services such as Hoopla, RB Digital, and Overdrive from your computer, tablet or cell phone. You can also renew an expired card at this time. Visit our library homepage at bportlibrary.org for more information.
— We are also on Facebook! Check our your favorite Bridgeport Children’s Librarian sharing their popular story times and programs on Facebook Live, such as Miss Bina’s Little Bears on our North Branch Facebook Page, and Story Time with Miss Anna and Miss Kristen at our Burroughs-Saden Children’s Library Facebook Page.
— Our Children’s Librarians are sharing useful links to online story times, author’s websites and many free educational and fun resources that are available on the Internet.
— Census 2020 update: Our homepage has information on how you can take the census by telephone. A Full Count is up to all of us, and we can assist you through our Ask Us First link if you need assistance reporting your census data.
Since all our library branches are closed, our maintenance staff is cleaning and sanitizing all branches and will continue to do so when our libraries are cleared to be open once again. Visit our Bridgeport Public Library website at www.bportlibrary.org often for updates.
Thanks for posting Lennie. Our buildings may be closed. But we are still very much in business!
Thank you
