Growing up in Hartford, Callie Heilmann learned from her parents the importance of giving back to the city, which among other ventures included the purchase of a duckpin bowling venue to keep it afloat.

So when Heilmann and spouse Niels mulled over how to give back to Bridgeport where they live today, they set their sights on a downtown edifice needing a new lease on life — and in doing so, they hope to bring fresh vigor to the center of Connecticut’s largest city.

Construction is set to begin this month on The Post Hotel, which if completed as planned in the fall of 2027 will become the first downtown hotel in Bridgeport since the Holiday Inn closed in 2022 and was converted to apartments.

The Post Hotel is being designed with 36 guest rooms; a rooftop bar; a ground floor sneaker and record store, a hybrid restaurant and cafe; and a “speakeasy” restaurant concept under development by Bridgeport native Roshara Sanders, an instructor at the Culinary Institute of America.

  3. Speaking of self-serving “Disingenuous” any of y’all find the news media out put as disingenuous regarding this latest school shooting? I mean with regards to narrative to mass school shooting, particularly high profile mass shooting the narrative the narrative has been more on mental health then accesses, the gun laws and illegal guns debate between the to sides. Mostly because the guns were seemed to have been purchased by legal means and the shooter tend to be younger. Like the narrative of, Cho, Adam, Cruz, Ramos mass school shootings.

    That being said this time around the topic of mental health/illness it no were to be find. The narrative seems to be around “thought and prays. Why you think that is people? I would assume you the culture war you can’t tie mental health to a mass school shooting of a transgender person. That’s a Pandor’s box, no? You don’t even here the word a AR-15.
