Amid Thousands Of Documents, Judge Delays Primary Challenge Two Weeks

Superior Court Judge William Clark on Monday delayed start of the court challenge to the Democratic mayoral primary results for two weeks allowing lawyers to review mountain ranges of documents while also throwing into question potential deferral of the Nov. 7 general election.

This process, at the very least, will run deep into October creating logistical challenges for election officials adhering to the timeline of the November election calendar. So the general election could also be delayed, especially if there’s a primary redo.

If delayed, there is a silver-dollar lining in this, allowing the various campaign camps more time to fund raise.

From Dan Tepfer, CT Post:

But that will have to wait another two weeks as lawyers for Democratic mayoral contender John Gomes, and city and state officials were granted more time by the judge to pour over 10,000 pages of absentee ballot documents from the State Elections Enforcement Commission, and 2,100 hours of police surveillance video.

“We think it is substantially more important to get it right than to get it done quickly,” Gomes’ lawyer, William Bloss, told the judge.

Gomes, who lost the Sept. 12 primary to incumbent Mayor Joe Ganim by 251 mail-in and absentee votes, filed a lawsuit last Tuesday in Superior Court against Town Clerk Charles Clemons Jr., city Democratic Registrar of Voters  Patricia Howard, Ganim and Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas.

  1. “Amid Thousands Of Documents.”

Welcome to the Old World of Joel Gonzalez Judge Clark. Thousands of hours, time and money I spent from 2008 to 2019 and now reporters are jumping on the band wagon to shed some light on the failing electoral and political system. Local Eyes seems to be only one who feels threatened by me.

I’m back from El Salvador, a country turned around by the vote of the majority without the need of a single absentee ballot and shorter voting hours. The US system is simply all fucked-up.
