News release from Mayor’s Office:
“Among the other continents represented at the CLEAN conference, I am proud to be asked as a panelist to represent North America, and specifically the City of Bridgeport in this green energy conference,” said Mayor Joe Ganim. CLEAN, a consortium of green sustainable energy organizations is hosting the conference in the European capital of culture, Aarhus, located in Denmark.
Mayor Ganim is being sponsored by CLEAN to address the conference on two panel discussions on how implementation of a thermal loop can be supportive to the community and economy of an urban center, and Bridgeport’s efforts to bring sustainable infrastructure and businesses to the city. The conference and discussions run over the holiday weekend thru Wednesday May 31st.
Bridgeport has a historical foundation as an industrial and manufacturing center that has been transforming its roots to green energy solutions like the Eco Technology Park, solar panels, and the city’s Micro Grid. These are some of the forward-thinking movements that put Bridgeport in the spotlight as a city that could utilize and benefit from the green technology of a thermal loop.
“I am always interested in exchanging ideas and talking to organizations that can make Bridgeport a thriving economically and environmentally sound city that supports job growth, a sustainable footprint for the future, and overall better quality of life for our residents,” said Ganim.
CLEAN is a world-leading cleantech cluster with an international focus that is based in Denmark. Their mission is to accelerate the green and sustainable transition while realising growth for cleantech sectors.

There is nothing “green” about digging up miles of pipeline channel through sea-side neighborhoods and parkland – most of which is below sea level – for a very expensive, high-pressure pipeline conduit for super-heated steam, the real purpose of which is to justify the presence on Bridgeport waterfront/parkland of a huge regional waste-disposal incinerator foisted upon Bridgeport to accommodate regional, suburban garbage. This garbage-incineration operation is making huge profits off of the only municipality on which it could be foisted – pre-privatization – by the state (for obvious reasons) … Now this huge garbage depot/incinerator, which is visited daily by many dozens of huge, garbage-laden, road-eating, diesel belching trucks (originating in suburban Fairfield and Westchester Counties, and Stamford), doesn’t even want to pay Bridgeport “just” tax compensation for their tax-base devaluing, polluting, infrastructure destroying operation on the park… And furthermore, this proposed, energy-delivering steam-pipe originating from this operation, will, in addition to providing false justification for their presence in Bridgeport, will add huge revenue to their high-profitable electricity generation operation (which adds to their huge garbage-collection revenue), enriching a suburb-serving operation at the expense of Bridgeport tax-payers, electricity rate-payers while inflicting environmental damage on the city and many of its poorest residents….
This is not “green” … Neither is a huge solar array owned by a regional electric utility on Bridgeport parkland… Neither is a regional sewage disposal (incinerator companion) operation at Seaside Park (the “Eco-Technology Park”) …
These are pseudo-green operations serving the political aspirations of pseudo-green political hacks and their sleazy corporate partners…
Real Bridgeport “green” would be the creation of alternative, grid-free, point-of-usage electric energy independence for all Bridgeport homes, businesses, and institutions through the use of Bridgeport-manufactured, green-alternative-energy equipment…
Right now, the only thing “green” about Bridgeport is the gullibility/complacence of its oppressed populace…
Joe is in charge of the City. The head of it and we deserve to hear from him more on GREEN subjects, as in the color of money from taxes, from slush funds in the City that do not show up as recognizable City resources in reports, and that pays salaries for political patronage appoints that provide no public services.
As head of the City, as I mentioned last week in noting the dark, bushy clump of hair on his forehead, much closer to his eyebrows than at his last appearance at City Council,in my opinion, we should be writing about the output of his thinking and public caring taking formation in his head rather than the output of follicles on his head. And Ganim2 should look at questions to learn more about subjects he has not mastered. Did he ever talk as he campaigned last, about what he did learn while he spent seven years behind bars? Will it keep him on a safe path today? Time will tell.
