Taken to task by retired Superior Court Judge Carmen Lopez who pushed back on her $40 parking meter ticket, the city is still working out kinks to implement a grace period Downtown.
The parking meter effort is headed up by mayoral aide Ed Adams.

So the Ganim administration, by late March, had come up with a public relations strategy. For two months, first-time offenders who park at a meter for 5 to 15 minutes without paying would receive a warning, and everyone else would be mailed a $15 voucher along with their $40 ticket, reducing their out-of-pocket expense to $25.
… “Say you’re license 1234x. The first time that you park (and receive a ticket) within 60 days, you’ll get amnesty. That’s your first ticket within the 60 days,” Adams said. “The Complus system has to recognize the next time your plate comes up, you’re getting a regular ticket. It’s complicated. We’re making it complicated because we’re doing this.”
With the grace period on hold, the city has been scheduling hearings at City Hall for drivers to appeal their parking tickets.
Asked what he would say to drivers who have already paid or are facing $40 tickets even as he prepares to rollout a grace period, Adams said, “We’re doing the best we can.”

Fortunately parking at an expired meter is not a federal offense.
At this point, Mayor Ganim and his administration just look completely incompetent.

We are only 4 months into the current year and we have tied last year for the number of murders!
Where is phony Joe visiting the families of those who died. Oh that’s right he is in Lebanon on a secret mission.
Wait a minutes, AJ Perez has scheduled a press conference. He is expected to tell us that these murders don’t count because:
A) They are drug related and drug related murders don’t count.
B) They are either committed by or the victim was from out of town so that town should take responsibility.
C) He is demanding a recount.
D) He is only acting Chief and therefore not responsible.
He’s got three Chief of Police and they don’t have a clue between the three of them.
I have developed a very simple answer. I do not go to downtown Bridgeport
These parking meters are a failure and are keeping people away from downtown !
Getting a ticket AND getting shot would make for a fun story huh?
Where are the revenues from parking meters reported? In which City Department? Are the funds shown as gross, from which expenses to other entities must be deducted, or are they net? Parking violations revenue does show up under Police Department revenues, but where are regular meter payments? Any member of the public have that info? Where do your quarters go? Time will tell.
