City Councilman Anthony Paoletto reports on his Facebook page the passing of Barbara Powell who served on the Democratic Town Committee for decades. See here.
From Paoletto:
It is with a heavy heart and with great sadness that I announce the passing of Barbara Powell. Barbara was a long time resident of Bridgeport and the 138th District. She was very active for many years, always giving back to her community. She served the Democratic Town Committee for 30+ years–one of the longest serving Town Committee members in Bridgeport’s history. The entire Powell Family has been a pillar in the community for decades. Barbara became part of my family. She will forever be missed in our family, our community, and all of our hearts! Prayers to her entire family in this tough time.
Pat and I want to express our condolences to the Powell family. Barbara was a good friend of ours and we had a lot of laughs together. Barbara always volunteered at Park City Little League and always made people feel welcome. God Bless you Barbara may you rest in peace.
My sympathy to the Powell family. What a really nice woman, everybody thought so highly of her. In the early 1980s I lived down the street from the Powells on Pearl Harbor St. and worked with Barbra husband, Stanley, at Jenkins Valve and I rode to work with him every day. Both Barbara and Stan cared so much about their district and they had no problem with asking neighbors what needed to be done to make our area better. Stan was a highly respected officer with the Veterans Of Foreign Wars (VFW) in the North Eastern District of America. Barbara always had that smile and made you feel good just being in her company.
