Democratic governor Dan Malloy and Republican challenger Tom Foley each has $6.5 million to spend in public funds for the November election. Joseph Visconti is also in the race as a petitioning candidate raising funds outside the state’s public financing program. In addition, Malloy and Foley campaigns are benefiting so far roughly $7 million combined from two outside sources, according to this report by Mark Pazniokas of the Connecticut Mirror. And then there’s the money the respective parties spend on the candidates.
With another $700,000 in spending reported Friday, two super PACs allied with the Democratic and Republican governors’ associations have matched each other dollar for dollar, spending nearly $7 million on Connecticut’s deadlocked race for governor.
And major political names are joining the flow of dollars into the state, with visits scheduled next week from President Obama, Bill Clinton and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, the chairman of the Republican Governors Association.
Connecticut Forward, an affiliate of the Democratic Governors Association, notified the State Elections Enforcement Commission on Friday it had raised $550,000 and spent $713,000 in the previous 24 hours, bringing its total receipts and expenditures to more than $3.4 million.
Those transactions drew the Democratic super PAC even with Grow Connecticut, which is largely funded by the Republican Governors Association and posted nearly identical totals in its previous filing last week.

I guarantee Foley will lose Bridgeport, as long as Santa Ayala remains in control of the Registrar’s office.
Sonny, Foley would lose Bridgeport even if you were in charge.
By how much, Lennie? Auden Grogins would win even if she stayed home and didn’t spent a dime.
With a 9 to 1 plurality, Foley may lose Bridgeport. If Foley can keep his message on the economy and offer a few reasonable ideas to give voters confidence, he will be in a strong position to win.
So Santa Ayala will have to hold the results a day or two, or three with another major fuck-up.
This one should be a squeaker, with all eyes on Bridgeport again!
Maybe just a little of the old soft shoe on the ABs or a few jammed voting machines will help?
Talking about Santa Ayala, what happened with the interview, Lennie?
Cost per vote results after the election, please!
