Who says Madeline Dennis Raleigh and Michael Raleigh don’t have a sense of humor? The Black Rockers spar often with neighbors in the highly active waterfront hamlet over a variety of issues. Madeline has launched a new Facebook page Black Rock Bitches. The video above is pulled from the site. Ooh, this should spark some letters!
From the Facebook page:
BLACK ROCK BITCHES is a Facebook page for Black Rockers to talk about their Black Rock neighborhood in Bridgeport, CT–the good, the bad and the ugly. We encourage bitchin’ and moanin’.
So, start bitchin’. No barking required. Hey, what’s a Black Rock Bitch anyway?

Why do I sense a double entendre regarding the name of this Facebook Page?
Eyes rolling back in head and palm plant at the mention of the Facebook Page host and hostess … The avatar for this page most def is a Troll …
This must be one of the sites that other Black Rock group is trying to protect us from. Where do I sign up?
Cap’n, just go to

Actually Lennie, there are a bunch of supposedly “high-class” folks in Black Rock who not only think I don’t have a sense of humor, they think I’m vulgar and low-class. There are a few Facebook pages about Black Rock. Some are for the old-timers and natives to reminisce. One is about BR real estate. And one group is for the stuck-up folks where they censor posts that do not meet their conservative agenda. And then there’s the new Facebook page I’ve started called Black Rock Bitches for the cool, open-minded people to talk about the neighborhood, both the good and the bad. I believe social media should be uncensored and revel in discussion and argument. If you live in Black Rock (or even if you don’t) and you’re “vulgar” (i.e. one of the common people) and have a sense of humor, please join the Black Rock Bitches at

Madeline–the smut busters were called this by some city council reps when we showed up for meetings–as in, oh great here come the Black Rock Bitches … how did we Not start this page? Have fun with it, Madeline.
Oh, there will be lots of fun and laughs on Black Rock Bitches, Jen, including lots of political jabs at Rick Torres too and his nutty Ayn Rand ideas and his kooky “black like me” ministry.
One way to know you have made it in life is when you have parasites dedicated to hating on you. Torres should be feeling great about himself today.
Are you doing this just to be divisive and mean? Why would you do this? Just to have a venue to spew venom? You want to start hate campaigns? Why is this even on the blog? BEPO In The Know is a decent news source, but I may stop following it. How would you like it if there were a hate campaign started to get folks to stop following BEPO? That would suck, right? BAD FORM.
Sally, why so serious?! Black Rock Bitches is for anyone to say anything about Black Rock with no censorship. I detest the close-mindedness of people who think they know what is best for everyone.
I see your point, don’t get me wrong. I do have a sense of humor, just not at the expense of others. I am not a fan of character assassination. Not yours, not Rick Torres’, not anyone’s.
Rick Torres is running for political office. I see nothing wrong with calling him out on some of his extreme policies and asking him to explain himself. I think that is called democracy, not character assassination.
Bepo In The Know, I agree with you when you wrote, “I see nothing wrong with calling him out on some of his extreme policies and asking him to explain himself.” Rick Torres needs to explain comments about blacks and his religion, I must say that what I’ve heard so far is very disturbing.
*** MUST FIND SOMETHING TO DO IN THIS CITY BESIDES DRINK ALCOHOL, NO? ***
Loving this. Rattle some cages!
Really? To me it just looks like what it is: a hissy fit and sour grapes. To each his own.
SMH. Just what Bridgeport/Black Rock needs: another online outlet for open-faced negativity. Does anybody ever stop to consider the digital welcome mat we’re laying out for anybody outside the Park City? Is this really what you want to pop up when a stranger searches Bridgeport, CT?
Bean Can, I have a popular web site with its own Facebook page called Bridgeport In the Know which is my homage to the city I love. I promote this city of promise every chance I get. Black Rock Bitches is a much-needed FB page to counteract that other righteous up-tight Black Rock FB page and to provide a place to talk about Black Rock honestly, warts and all.
