Let’s step up for Bridgeport businesses. Yes, free plugs for your favorite shops, eateries, saloons, liquor stores, car dealerships, destination points, even strip joints. Let’s put OIB buying power to work. We’d love to hear your recommendations for holiday shopping–North End, South End, East Side, West Side, Black Rock, Brooklawn, Upper East Side, East End, The Hollow, West End and all other neighborhoods in the city. Let’s do this.
Here’s a recommendation for stocking stuffers: The Backstoke Gift Boutique www.thebackstroke.com on State Street downtown. No one cracks backs into shape like the good doctor Jenny Lynne and her wellness center is a sweet spot for the little gifts that mean a lot. Check it out. You won’t be disappointed. This place could charge admission just to walk in and inhale deeply, such is the aromatic intoxication.

If you are needing a sumptuous cheese platter for a holiday party or some great cheeses, meats, breads, condiments etc., I most enthusiastically recommend Melt Market and Cafe. The shop is located at the corner of Lafayette Circle and Fairfield Avenue, and they carry the best St. Andre I have ever tasted. The platters they put together for entertaining are brilliant, delicious and they don’t skimp. Quality and quantity for a very good price for this type of high-end product.
C’est Cheese, Zena!
Melt has an excellent menu. I have been there for lunch quite a few times. Good choice. How about a gift certificate to the Bijou Theater? Cabaret?
I think Melt just closed.
Could someone please buy me a 2013 X5 from BMW of Bridgeport? yahooy, let’s be friends. Please buy me a BMW. Okay, I’ll take a used one from Mimi Dragone on Fairfield Avenue.
Buy Local! It Makes Cents!!!
Good small out-of-the-box thinking by these small businesses. I believe Taco Loco is also participating in the AMEX promotion.
Paging Paul Timpanelli and his BRBC? I forgot they only support their big bucks members and then throw an old member under the bus, who gave his organization for several years $100,000.00 a year free billboards for BRBC Business of the Year! Hey Paul! Will you love me in November like you loved me in July? It’s Time to Say Goodbye because Timpanelli is so YesterYear!
Anna! I heard yahooy would like to turn you into a BVM! Hold the Stoli!!!
I would truly like to turn anna into a decent human being; an arduous task indeed. Never, ever hold the Stoli.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody.
GIFT CARDS to Bass Pro Shops. A gift that will never start giving …
I would suggest The Finer Things, on Wood Avenue for pottery and crafts, next to Woods End Deli. My favorite gift for a restaurant would be Bloodroot. Also there are a lot of nice shops on the water at Captain’s Cove, if they are still open this late in the season. Good idea, support BPT!
The Finer Things coupled with a Beef Brisket sandwich from Woods End!
