What would we be if we couldn’t make fun of our favorite local legislative body? Only In Bridgeport do they promise truth-telling on a street called Lyon. But we must note as well the good things they do so comes now a plug for City Council President Tom McCarthy skinny dipping (well, almost) on Saturday for a good cause, the new Wakeman Boys & Girls Club.
February 11 I am going swimming in Long Island Sound! Yes you read that right, I will be taking part in “Freezin’ for a Reason” to raise money for Wakeman Boys & Girls Club!
I won’t be alone though. There will be a couple hundred other people of all ages heading into the chilly water with me at 1pm on the 11th at Fairfield’s Jennings Beach. I have been told to expect the water temperature to be about 37 degrees–I don’t think my swim will last too long!
Wakeman is a terrific organization that I’m proud to support. They opened the Smilow Clubhouse in Bridgeport this past year. The Smilow Clubhouse serves a desperate need for Bridgeport kids and that is why I am taking part in “Freezin’ for a Reason”.
