Bridgeport City Councilman Bob Curwen, co-chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee, who’s also on the city payroll, sent this out today to his peers. Yes indeed, it’s election year and time to pave the streets, baby!

Fellow Council members, I am currently working on the upcoming paving list. Each district will receive an approximately $150,000. Please contact me so we could go over the priority of needs list, that is prepare by an outside contractor. Both Council Members from the same district please confer together, and then submit your district request. The cut-off date is April 22nd. I can be reached at 203 258-5083. Thanks Bob C.
Let’s see now, the city has 10 council districts at $150K per district. Just to show that OIB has an egalitarian approach to street paving, feel free to contact Bob Curwen directly at Robert.Curwen@bridgeportct.gov and place your request. Why do I get the feeling no one will tamper with the street paving budget this cycle?
How about paving State Street from Bostwick to West Avenue?
HELLO!!! How about paving Main street downtown? It’s a total embarrassment. Whose district is that? Or do they pick the streets with the most voters? What a stupid method of prioritizing street paving. OIB.
State Street’s a state road (no pun intended)–not our jurisdiction.
Lennie, this one is to easy.
I’m guessing the garden district of Black Rock (over by Saint Mary’s) is on the “to do” list …
GOOD LUCK!!! I’ve been trying to get my street and the adjacent one paved now for over six years. Promises, promises.
I don’t imagine $150,000 per district will go very far. Does the city have a paving crew or do we contract out; does anyone know?
$150,000.00 per district is enough to resurface a few driveways …
The entire paving job is contracted out.
So which one of Mario’s buddies got the $1.5m paving contract: Julian or J PIC?
I would be willing to bet O & G got the contract.
Forgot about them. You can bet it’s one of the three.
Will Bob Curwen complete this task before quitting the City Council?
