For Re-election Seeking Ganim And Lamont, A Fundraiser At Bridgeport Development Showplace

Governor Ned Lamont and Mayor Joe Ganim will kickoff a fundraiser for Ganim’s 2027 reelection campaign on Thursday as a political twofer.

The location is Boca Osyter Bar at Steelpointe Harbor on the same property where more than 400 units of luxury housing rises along the waterfront, about 90 of the units classified under the state’s Build For Connecticut program with a mid June move-in date for the first wave of housing at the Amenity-filled The August.

Build For Connecticut is a state-sponsored program that provides reduced rental rates designed for middle income individuals and families, offering an attractive price point from market rate with approximately $500-$700 lower per month. For instance studios start at just under $2,000 per month and a one-bedroom about $2,100 per month.

Amenities include fitness center, spa, outdoor swimming pool, pickleball courts, in-unit laundry, gated and controlled access, pet friendly, social & co-working café lounge.

The project is a partnership between the father-son development team of Robert Christoph Sr. and Jr. with Flaherty & Collins Properties, a heavyweight Midwest property development firm that is handling tenant onboarding.

Ongoing construction on the property also includes a Marriott hotel.

Lamont, in addition, is campaigning for another four-year term this cycle so he will point to the state’s involvement subsidizing luxury apartments for middle class income earners.

Dozens of apartment rentals have already been booked for summer occupancy with more move-in dates scheduled for August and October.

Ganim is seeking his fourth JG2 four-year term after voters returned him to office in 2015. He had close primary elections in 2019 and 2023. City Councilman Jorge Cruz has formed an exploratory committee for mayor. John Gomes, Ganim’s chief rival in 2023 is weighing another run.

If Ganim is successful he will become the long-serving mayor in history in years of service. Socialist Mayor Jasper McLevy, 1933-57 is at the top of the list.
