Testa seeks two more years.

Following last Tuesday’s Democratic Town Committee primaries in three districts, the 90-member political body will meet March 12, 5:30 p.m. in the Margaret Morton Government Center to select party officers.

This will likely be a noisy affair given a revised makeup and disparate political personalities.

Town Chair Mario Testa still has strong support in several of 10 districts but with new players emerging particularly in 130th Black Rock/West End and 135th Whiskey Hill/North End it adds potential disruption on the way to the required 46 votes to win another two-year term.

Will Testa even have a challenger? Is there a coalescing alternative that can put it together? Easier said than done. Political players are positioning for this and that.

The 130th District features nine new members including Callie Heilmann, co-founder of the civic group Bridgeport Generation Now that largely campaigned against Testa and Mayor Joe Ganim on the way to major gains. Do they put up a candidate of their own for show or not vote as a protest bloc?

Then there’s Vice Chair Wanda Geter Pataky who is facing numerous counts of state election law violations stemming from the past two mayoral cycles with another on the horizon next year. When you’re fighting for your liberty, at times like these isn’t better to low key everything rather than being a lightning rod?

Political insiders say Wanda is stepping down.

    1. Rumors of the Mills has it the new 130th DTC will be endorsing Robert Teixera for Dog Catcher.

      To my understanding, Callie Heilmann is District Leader Callie Heilmann. Who is the New 135th District Leader? I’m guessing it will be Nelson. Great choice if I’m right. This would spell trouble for Joe Ganim down the road. Remember the Charter Revisio? The new Charter wipes out the City Sheriffs positions–Mario and Joe failed to weigh in. If my mind serves me right, City Sheriff Nelson is the husband of the new district leader in the 135th.

      The 131th and the 135th district both represent 2/3 of the 3 districts corresponding to the 22nd. State Senate district. Sujata endorsed the New Gen slate, the 135th didn’t need it, the McBride slate wasn’t close to a Sujata endorsement as Lesko who won a spot on the 135th is a good friend of Sujata.

      2. From my understanding, this war has been primarily a fight against the IRGC, which was created to keep the Ayatollah, the supreme leader of the regime in control of the country. It is said that the Iranian National Army is their rival.

        So you would think they would be released to take their country back. Why does America or any other nation have to put boots on the ground when Iran has a standing army that was subjugated by the IRGC?

  7. I don’t think the vice-chair doesn’t have to be on the DTC either. So why not nominate Joel Gonzalez for Vice Chair? We’ve never had a Hispanic Vice-Chair let alone a Chairman.

    Serving simultaneously as a DTC member; District leader; Council person and or City Employee; and Vice-chair too? What the fuck Mario? How long must this bullshit go.

  8. Well, will you look at that, the son of the late Ayatollah has been anointed to be the supreme leader of Iran by the Assembly of Experts, whose wife and son were killed in this war.

    I would seem we wait Iran army and its people, who oppose such a system, will rise up and overthrow it.

    Without the people of Iran, this would be just death and destruction as this war plays out with bombs, as it regards a change in the system.

    Now, with regard to Iran playing a proxy in other nations’ affairs and having a nuclear capability, I can see the need for American intervention, per se.

    To end this shit show in my mind, based on current events, time will tell if the world can help Iran come to the negotiation “table,” to stop weaponizing groups in other nations, except Israel as a nation, and get their needed nuclear fuel.
