Rasmussen Poll: Dick By 11

Despite protestations from Linda McMahon’s mouthpiece Ed Patru, another poll, this one from Rasmussen (hardly a Democratic pollster) has Dick Blumenthal leading. From Rasmussen:

In a survey conducted the night after their first head-to-head debate, Democrat Richard Blumenthal has moved further ahead of Republican Linda McMahon in Connecticut’s U.S. Senate race.

The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Blumenthal, the state’s longtime attorney general, picking up 54% of the vote. McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment, draws support from 43%. Only three percent (3%) of voters are undecided at this point.

These numbers move the race back to Solid Democrat from Leans Democrat in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Just over a week ago, it was a 50% to 45% race, Blumenthal’s smallest lead since May. In 12 surveys conducted since January, Blumenthal has received between 47% and 60% of the vote. McMahon’s support has fallen in the 31% to 45% range over the same period.

    1. tc, you think poll stories are bs? Readers like poll stories. Comments may not be high, but traffic to the site is high. As for news bleeps I receive several releases each day from the various campaigns. I could post many more. Bridgeport voters will have an important say in whether it’s Blumenthal/McMahon, Malloy/Foley, Debicella/Himes, etc.

      1. I stand corrected but I still think it’s BS. Here we go again. Bridgeport voters are important and I agree but after the election it will be the same old thing. Screw Bridgeport.
It’s too bad the readers don’t get more involved.

  1. Does the Himes video of Opel Energy means he is Buy-Solar?
Is it true Pia is pro-life and anti-gay? He must be Bi-Polar!

If Vince McMahon’s boat is named “Sexy Bitch” and Tom Foley’s boat’s name in Greek means harem or concubine, does this mean they suffer from “Venus Envy???”

    1. Mojo, am I misreading your post? You are not suggesting people stay home from the polls and not vote are you? If you are, I would lose a lot of respect for you. The only message sent when folks don’t vote is a message that “they don’t matter. And when “they don’t matter,” “they” get ignored at best, or screwed …

Tell me Mojo that I am misunderstanding your post. The choice is crystal clear to me. Dan Malloy is by far the better, more experienced candidate. Tom Foley is a phony. You know better Mojo … step up! Respectfully, RWB.

    2. Mojo; I am as frustrated as you are but here is another option. I am voting for anyone who has NOT held a public office before. I am not voting for any incumbents.

  3. Mojo that is the worst message I can think of. Voting is the backbone of this country. People die for the right to vote all over this world, as did women and African Americans when they fought for the right to vote in this country. If you don’t vote you have no right to complain about the result of any election.
Last year I was in a class at a women’s campaign school, whose goal is to empower woman from all over the world, with a women from the Middle East. She had to lie as to why she was coming to America and had to be kept away from all cameras. She did this so she could help women in her country and to make sure they exercised their right to vote. She risked her life for this and for someone to say we should not use this precious gift really frightens me as to where this country may be going. I know you are a better person than to give up, so please go out and vote.
As a reader I enjoy poll news Lennie. If people want to believe in the results or not it is up to them.

  4. I think poll results are an important part of the decision-making process voters make when opting for one candidate over the other. The poll is not necessarily the compelling factor influencing choice, but nonetheless a factor. The ads, which should be an important element, are, sadly, doing the voting public a tremendous disservice. Instead of clearly delineating establish political platforms demonstrating goals and objectives, we have to live through the incessant mantra of Foley thinks Malloy is a bum; Malloy thinks Foley is a bum, Linda thinks Dick is bad news and Dick thinks Linda is a slut … BLAH, BLAH BLAH. I think I am following all of the races carefully yet I cannot tell you what each of the candidates stands for and is passionate about accomplishing. One more think … will someone explain to me why Linda McMahon is willing to spend $50,000,000 of her personal fortune to tilt at this windmill? She claims to be an astute businesswomen. What do you think the cost benefit is associated with such an expense?

  5. Lennie, in order to make OIB readers believers in polls, take the average total of all the polls taken in the month of October and we’ll run with it.

“… will someone explain to me why Linda McMahon is willing to spend $50,000,000 of her personal fortune to tilt at this windmill? She claims to be an astute businesswomen. What do you think the cost benefit is associated with such an expense?”

Yahooy, I think Linda McMahon, thinking like a millionaire–long term planners–sees the cost differently than the average poor OIB reader. Linda may be looking at the cost as recoverable in 6 years if she wins. If she wins, she would have 6 years to increase her name statewide and nationally, without spending another dime. In 2016, McMahon wouldn’t need to spend so much money and will be in a better position to raise money and use less of her own. Spending $50 million for a 6-year term averages about $8.3 million a year. If she loses, she will still be a millionaire, and by 2016, the WWE will have made about $1.2 billion in profits for the owners.

  6. *** It’s not the right to vote, it’s the quality of the candidates. Time & time again we vote regardless of party only to get the same negative results by different means. Most times in Bpt voters don’t really choose, they settle! It’s a crap-shoot anyway you look @ it so why not send the prime party’s a political message of “no confidence” in any of the candidates put up by those who are really not in tune with the America of today? No thanks, I’m skipping this one & will focus on the next local elections next year! *** Back to Basics. ***
