M&T Bank’s East End Branch Open For Business

M&T Bank’s East End branch is now open for business, the first occupant of homegrown developer Anthony Stewart’s multi-use Honey Locust Square project along Stratford Avenue.

Grocery store, jazz-themed restaurant, pharmacy, healthcare facility are some of the other ventures on the horizon.

This is a huge lift for a neighborhood that has been a food and financial desert for many years.

The bank’s grand opening is slated for 3 p.m. October 29.

Work crews were on hand putting the finishing touches on the branch’s interior.

The motif takes on nautical themes as well as East End staples such as the adjacent library branch.

Gregarious Branch Manager Calvin Jones whose tenure goes back about 18 years to the days of People’s United Bank greeted me for a look inside Thursday morning, sans pictures of customers. M&T purchased People’s a few years ago.

Teller line.

  1. Quick though, speaking of out-reach community engagement.

If you really want to commemorate the plight of the native American/Indians, indigenous people of this land and replace/rename a Holiday as Indigenous People of Day, instead racist view on Columbus Day for racial, racist political identity game to conjure up support, by extension hate. A more genuine, Holiday Day to attach such a view disingenuous, WEEPA, would be Thanksgiving, no?

But you can’t do that based on political, local, state advocacies groups who path themself on the back with a free turkey/meal. Well played, Thanksgiving, well played. 🙂

Speaking of editorial rights. I am sure CT’s casino tribes, as well as all the other crying Indians tribes across this land were in a state of in the state of Kumbaya, nothing but love for each other. Right CRT? 🤣
