The city has lost dozens of police officers throughout the years, recruited away by regional departments, a trend that is shifting because Police Chief Roderick Porter was able to negotiate a new policy allowing for lateral police hiring from other departments that comes with experience, the latest Kevin Sinclair.
From Police Department Facebook page:
Mayor Ganim and Chief Porter welcome the newest addition to the Bridgeport Police Department. Officer Sinclair comes to us with valuable experience, having served the New London Police Department for the past two and a half years.
Prior to that, he spent two years with the Baltimore City Police Department, where he honed his skills in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Born and raised in Cheshire, Connecticut; Officer Sinclair chose to join The Bridgeport Police Department, because of the department’s diversity and the opportunities for career advancement that our city offers. His dedication to public service and enthusiasm for making a difference in our community make him a great fit for the department.
