Detective Jeffrey A. Holtz
Last evening at Black Rock Library Captain Gilleran presented more info about current Police Department programs. resources, and outcomes. It was the first time I had heard about the “cold case” efforts where a newer officer, with experience as a reporter and video use can turn out a program that provides an account of an unsolved case, with enough detail to pose a question to the public about coming forth to provide witness evidence, enough to close a case and lead to prosecution. A good use of experience and resources, like Detective Jeffrey Holtz, to contribute to the high clearance rate for a department that continues to be understaffed though very efficient. Working with social media is a positive use and likely will engage a public that otherwise will not know about Department efforts. Public safety, property security, trust and taxpayer knowledge of Police Department mission are long term goals being pursued. Time will tell.
