OIB Get Well Wishes To Chris Caruso – Italian-Heritage Festivities ‘Full Speed Ahead’

Chris Caruso

This is the busiest time of year for long-time state legislator and two-time mayoral candidate Chris Caruso, key organizer of the upcoming Columbus Italian-heritage celebration that includes road race, Marine band concerts, parade and Madison Avenue street fest, hosted by the Council of Italian American Societies of Greater Bridgeport.

Elaine Ficarra, whose career spans journalism, government communications director, business leader, is this year’s grand marshal.

Chris has been battling a health issue in St. Vincent’s Medical Center for more than a week.

A big OIB salute for a full recovery.

Ficarra notes: “We are heartened by Chris’s recovery. We are fortunate to have a full staff of volunteers so everything is full speed ahead.”

  1. Thank you, Lennie, for this alert. If Chris is in a hospital bed, that is serious. But he has dealt with other serious matters over his lifetime. And talking with him recently indicates that his active mind and memory are operating in a way that is healthy for the people of Bridgeport. His voicemail is full. Perhaps he is taking a nap, or waiting for tests. Perhaps he has guests. It would be great if he were to sign on to allay our concern, and that of the many folks who love and respect him. Peace and health, Chris. Time will tell.
