State Rep. Baker Holds Off Martinez

State Rep. Andre Baker survived an absentee ballot onslaught to defeat City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez in the battle for the East End.

Baker amassed a convincing walk-in vote to hold off Martinez’s absentee ballot operation, winning 497 to 469, according unofficial returns.

The popular funeral home director faced his toughest test since winning the seat 10 years ago in a Democratic primary over Ernie Newton.

It was a long night for both camps awaiting the absentee count. Shortly before 11 p.m. Baker had a lead outside the recount range to claim victory.

  1. Hopefully this is a sign that all the Indictments/arrests for A/B fraud,is slowly but surely slowing down Mario’s operation. He has lost some generals who didn’t mind doing the dirty work, and it should, especially in this race..Last year,Martinez would have garnered double the amount of AB’s to win…

  2. Harvey, a sign? A sign of retardation. 🤣

This is kinda disturbing, in the sense that it really gauges Port politics.

Jeff, you don’t have to drive down 95 to find the effects of the “Gold Coast” on the Port. Just look out the window. 🤣

I mean, the Port DTC endorses a candidate marred in several open AB ballot fraud cases and was called to testify on that freak show election that garnered National News coverage. Not to mention the running/managing of an illegal after-hour strip club during the pandemic resulting in a homicide and everything associated with that, within the community.

What does the Port’s DTC do? Endorse that person to represent the Port in Hartford. Sure that’s going to bring the $$$$$ flowing to the Port from Hartford. Good Job DTC 🤣

  3. Lennie, Martinez had Baker in the coffin for a short time. I went to 999 Broad Street with Sujata for her NEWS 12 Interview. I ran into Baker and we chatted for a few. He was behind in the numbers but, as the night progressed, he was able to kicked his way out the coffin. Among the people helping him was Robert Traber and his partner. There are rumores circulating saying that Baker and Traber put Eneida Martinez in the coffin then Kim McClauklin pushed the coffin into the cremation over. Uhhhhh, that gives me goosebumps.

  4. The difference with Eneida Martinez was that she ran a clean campaign. She wasn’t negative bashing Baker. Can I say the same? Baker had Maria Pereira at JFK lying to the people. Maria Pereira had laminated sheets regarding Eneida Martinez. Santa Claus Robert Traber showing voters videos and newspaper articles on his phone telling people I was facing trial December 15 for an indictment. That is a HEFTY word. If anyone
Maria Pereira lying to the voters on what Baker is going to do for Success Village, etc. How Baker has dropped the taxes on the seniors, etc. Eneida Martinez stood at all the schools, introduce herself, spoke on why she was running, and allowed the voters to speak for themselves.

If an effective LEADER was so effective they shouldn’t need to attack the opponent with negativity. But when a leader is not effective the community doesn’t know him or what he has done, they would use attacking tactics. Baker had over 20 people running his operations for re-election. Eneida Martinez had 7 strong individuals. Big DIFFERENCE…

497 TO 465 IS NOT A HUGE LOST FOR SOMEONE THAT HAS BEEN IN OFFICE FOR 10 YEARS.
BAKER IS LOOKING FOR HIS 12 YEAR MARK TO GRADUATE WITH A PENSION AND INSURANCE. That’s all the community will receive. The mere fact that all a person has is negativity to use as leverage to win a race is INSANE…
I LOVE THE FACT THAT EVERYONE CAN SPEAK ABOUT MY LEGAL BUSINESS, BUT MY ATTORNEYS ARE THE ONES THAT KNOW BEST. CALLING ON ATTY. KENNELLY AND ATTY. GULASH…
IF THEY LIKE IT, I LOVE IT…
MARIA PEREIRA DAYS ARE COMING, SHE HAS HER OWN ISSUES.
ROBERT TRABER DAYS ARE COMING, HE HAS HIS OWN ISSUES. I WILL KEEP PRAYING FOR ALL THE DEVILS…

    1. Eneida Martinez, Sujata lost three (3) elections before crushing the 3 boys on her 4th. try for a higher position. Speedy had his hand full to help anyone else. I was cut off the 130 th. (STATE) via redistricting and replanted in the 129 th. (STATE) 130 th. Citycouncil. A totaly white male controlled district where the minorities are a majority.
They should have been careful what they wished for. NO STATE SENATE SEAT FOR THE BLACK ROCK ELITE.

    2. Eneida Martinez, positive or negative campaigning is not the issue, that’s politics, Port Polictics can be on steroids sometimes, especially when they don’t have much.

It may sway the “uncommitted” to shape their thoughts/minds But with Port’s low voter turnout, anyone who makes the effort to go vote in person has already made up their mind and committed to whom they are voting for. AB on the other hand, that a different story, though

Talk about Negative, You don’t see the Negative for the Port as a whole, and the East End of having you in Hartford with all that is going on with you, legally right now? What is the perception people will have out out of the Port’s CTV bubble? That’s all negativity is about, perception.

The real issue is this election/game if you will, however, people want to perceive it. It is not your current legal issues, who or what you or Baker have done for the East End, positive or negative. The fact you are plastered all over the news, caught up in the current political fraud/AB scandal, synonymous with Port being corrupted that to beyond reasonable, rational, logical understanding as to why the Port’s DTC would have tapped you to run for state office.

If you weren’t caught up in all these legal issues and wouldn’t be a poster child of Port’s corruption on the house floor. that is a different story. But that is not where you are at, are you?

It is not even behind you. To bring that drama and perception to the State Floor/Harford chamber is wise. For the Port’s DTC to endorse you is reckless in that regard. I am sure even you were surprised that they wanted you to run.

You can appreciate ganger stuff, wouldn’t it be wiser if your legal issues were behind you before a state house run, at the very least?

Just my thoughts on the issue

  5. What is the perception people will have outside of Port’s DTC bubble? That’s all negativity is about, perception.

Your perception is Port’s corruption. It is retarded for th eDTC to endorse you. Unless that is what they want. Which is only common sense so how does the East End (community) benefit from that?
