Three Weeks Late, Gomes For Mayor Files Campaign Finance Report

Three weeks tardy with a fine to boot, the mayoral campaign of John Gomes filed on Tuesday with the Town Clerk’s Office the finance report for the period ending September 30. The document was due Oct. 10.

It shows overall that the campaign raised about $305,000 since his December 2022 announcement, a mighty figure for a challenge candidate, leaving $3,738 on hand.

Gomes is awaiting word from Superior Court Judge William Clark about his September primary challenge won by Mayor Joe Ganim. That decision should be coming any day now.

No matter what, the general election will take place Nov. 7 with Ganim on the Democratic line, David Herz, the Republican, Gomes the Bridgeport Independent Party and Lamond Daniels petitioning candidate.

  1. I worked on many campaigns in my life, some poorly run most bellying up financially way before the election, the nature of the beast.
John Gomes did a great job on his campaign; he’ll make a great Mayor.
