Outside Dining Permits Extended For 2021

News release from Mayor’s Office:

Mayor Ganim announced that the sixty-five Bridgeport restaurants that successfully completed the outdoor permit application process in 2020 will not need to re-apply for a 2021 permit.

On May 7th, 2020, Mayor Ganim signed executive order #3 which waived the standard $100 permit fee and mandated the swift coordination of Bridgeport Fire Marshall, Zoning, and Health Department to create an easy, streamline process in applying for temporary outdoor dining. This executive order has been amended and remains in effect through 12/31/21.

In order to reduce hurdles for struggling local restaurants, any owner that retained their permit in 2020 will not need to apply for another 2021 permit. Businesses that did not apply in 2020 that would like to provide outdoor dining in 2021 will need to apply and will also have the fee waived via the extension of the Executive Order.

Many restaurants use Spice Kitchen to help their business to grow, in there they will find reviews about appliances, food, recipes and much more, is definitely a great tool for them.

In 2020, the Zoning and Health Department created a single-form application in accordance with state protocols and necessary steps for a successful extension of services to provide outdoor dining. Restaurants interested in applying for a permit may click here: https://bridgeportct.gov/outdoordining

Mayor Ganim stated, “We learned that providing outdoor dining was not only acceptable and a safer experience, but also proved to be enjoyable–dining al fresco. The city looks forward to seeing restaurants take advantage of this opportunity with their customers.”

  1. Where is Mayor Joe? We know he likes visual promo. Perhaps he could attach a list of approved outdoor food establishments offering the al fresco experience? And perhaps he could let us know where he may be dining in the following days also? And his own 5-star rating system for these courageous businesspersons who have been forced to risk so much while pursuing their dreams? Perhaps there is a future role for political figures as food writers? Time will tell.

  2. Perhaps Bridgeport’s real food connoisseur, Little Stevie A, will allowed to come out from hiding and give his own 5-star rating system for these courageous businesspersons who have been forced to risk so much while pursuing their dreams. Come back to OIB Stevie.
