Members of the city’s state legislative delegation including Senator-elect Dennis Bradley and State House incumbents Chris Rosario, Andre Baker and Ezequiel Santiago will be among elected officials hosting a community forum on Saturday, 10 a.m. at Frankie’s Diner, 1660 Barnum Avenue.
Topics will include:
• Legislative Issues
• Suggestions for Legislation for Upcoming Session
• Constituent Concerns
• Community Concerns
All elected officials and constituents are invited.
Bridgeport’s eight-member legislative delegation will join the General Assembly for session that runs from January into June.
The session is expected to be packed with a number of high profile items such as raising the minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, electronic highway tolls, sports betting and legalizing recreational marijuana. The latter three topics, if approved, would generate new revenues for the state.
Democrats, after the November election, now hold significant majorities over Republicans in both chambers of the General Assembly. Governor-elect Ned Lamont will receive the oath of office in January.
A unified delegation is key to bringing home the bacon to Bridgeport for budget resources, development, infrastructure and public education.
It’s also a reelection year for Mayor Joe Ganim with the legislative session a key backdrop as he seeks another four-year term. Supporters of State Senator Marilyn Moore are urging her to challenge Ganim. A decision on that will likely come in early 2019.
Really? Free food? Little Stevie will be there.
Where is Frankie’s Diner. I know they are not talking about me because I barely cook.
