Local debt-collection attorney Juda Epstein is under scrutiny from the City Council for his role in helping recover late sewer fees for Bridgeport’s Water Pollution Control Authority.

But complaints about Epstein–and what he charges delinquent homeowners whose late sewer bills he handles for the city–go back years.

Bridgeport’s legal department told Hearst Connecticut Media last week that it conducted a quiet review of Epstein’s practice in 2011.

  1. Is it any wonder the legal profession is held in such low regard? Juda Epstein ought to be hauled before the state bar disciplinary committee. What he is doing is not moral or ethical but it is legal. Unfortunately.

  2. This is not going to go away. The City Council will not go away, will not be baffled by Anastasi and Meyer’s bullshit.

More than a few residents are experiencing financial hardship. It is appalling the WPCA, Russell Liskov of the City Attorney’s Office and Juda Epstein would exploit loopholes in the law to enrich themselves at the expense of struggling homeowners. The State’s Attorney’s Office and/or the Attorney General should be made aware of this. Mr. Epstein should be disbarred. He could servers Joe Ganim’s candidate for lieutenent governor.
