From 60 Minutes:
Bridgeport, Conn., is where researchers say Gustave Whitehead, a German immigrant, first flew his aircraft two years ahead of the Wrights. Now, based on new evidence, the authoritative aeronautical journal “Jane’s All the World’s Aircraft”–the bible of aviation–has officially recognized Whitehead as first in flight, and the Connecticut legislature just passed a law confirming it as fact.

I watched the show. This is super, super news. What a hit for Bridgeport. This will change everything.
60 Minutes is in a class by itself for investigative journalism and Jane’s is the independent and authoritative source for these matters. Now let’s see what the Smithsonian does about its inappropriate advocacy contract with the Wright family. Let’s also see if Mayor Finch and the City Council have the ability to capitalize on this great news in a manner that will help economic development in our city. I am not holding my breath on that. I also expect the next 60 Minutes piece on Bridgeport may be about its poor financial condition and dysfunctional, ineffective and conflicted governance system.
*** Typical of Bpt, where wright is wrong and wrong is wright, no? *** WELCOME TO ZOMBIELAND! ***
It seems obvious to me they should put the whole Trifecta: Whitehead, Sikorsky and the Corsair where they will be honored most: the Arena Billboard!
And at the rate things are going there won’t be an airport in Stratford to honor Gustave Whitehead … way to go, Bridgeport!!!
