In what Police Chief Roderick Porter called one of the largest police classes in a decade, 33 new police recruits received the oath of office Thursday night in a jammed City Hall chambers and will head to the training academy for six months before hitting the streets including for the first time three lateral officers arriving from other departments.
The city has been hard pressed in recent years to keep pace with retirements and losing officers to other departments, something communities throughout Connecticut have faced.
Since becoming top cop Porter has focused on community engagement, rebuilding the ranks and enticing officers from other departments to bring in seasoned law enforcement without starting from scratch.
Fair enough, welcome to the “family”
Though, let’s not try to shoot a cowering old lady in the face. And I am pretty sure it was not this officer who “forgot” to turn on his body cam more than the “family” who made up that story he didn’t turn on his cam until after the shooting because “they” don’t want to show a cowering old lady in the floor going shot in the face in a Biden D era, Jesus people.
