  1. Lennie,
The Ganim2 became Ganim3 finally in February when fewer of “the adults in the room” among our majority minority population came out to vote as informed citizens, so unaware of the power of the right to elect leadership that 85% or more squandered the opportunity to vote for attention to the youth of the community and the educators of the community who labor on in severely under provisioned environments, unequal in so many ways with neighboring communities and facing “future” competition for higher education, and work spots.
Did the Mayor lecture on the facts of this science event, or just enjoy, with them, a fleeting opportunity to see an event that disappeared within less than five minutes, likely for 20 more years. Where will they be based on his understanding of how severely damaged they will be without genuine attention at this specific budget making occasion in 2044? Where will he be, or more importantly, what will his legacy be?
Why hasn’t OIB changed the tone of subject matter from “shovel ready” economic projects to what happens when youth development is ignored by failing to respond to test scores showing how few youth are prepared for more advanced educations? Perhaps an interview of City Council members to see how few regularly see the results posted by youths in their neighborhood schools annually, year in and year out, and the special effects of COVID? Do they know? What is their response? An increase in stipends? Time will tell.
