From Mayor Finch:
City, GBT to Open Main Bus Station Terminal as Cooling Center Will Be Open Thursday through Sunday
The City and Greater Bridgeport Transit will open the Main Bus Terminal at 710 Water St., as a cooling center on Thursday through Sunday. The American Red Cross will provide cold water. The cooling center will be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m. each day.
Temperatures are expected to rise into the high 90s during the next few days, with high humidity. Health officials urge residents to stay cool by staying indoors in air conditioning, either at home, or at a local library, community or senior center, or shopping centers, and staying hydrated.
More information about how to stay cool in hot weather can be found on the City of Bridgeport web site www.bridgeportct.gov/EmergencyMgmt/Documents/Extreme Heat and Cold.pdf under Emergency Management/Hazards.
Cooling Center opens Thursday, July 21
WHERE: Main Bus Terminal, 710 Water St., Bridgeport CT
WHEN: 12 noon to 6 p.m., daily beginning July 21 through July 24
Good move, this will allow grifters and homeless panhandlers to prey on the working poor at the bus station while enjoying chilled Poland Spring water in an air condition building–It’s time to stop donating to the Red Cross.
