…With a substantial lead, and the vast majority of outstanding votes in democratic-leaning areas of Bridgeport, it was my honor to declare that I am your new State Senator for the 22nd district.
I want to thank Chris Carrena for running a very good, cordial and friendly campaign, and I want to thank the many, many people who helped me get to this place. I love this community and it will be an honor to serve you.

  1. State Senator-Elect, Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, will bring a vital women’s voice to both our state delegation and the state senate. As the first Indian-American state senator, I believe her life-experience and leadership embodies our shared values and vision for Connecticut.

I am incredibly proud of Sujata’s campaign team for running an ethical campaign grounded in integrity and passion. The countless volunteers who wholeheartedly believed in her candidacy have truly made a difference. Fostering new relationships, working beside them and witnessing their commitment has been a breath of fresh air, showcasing the power of community and shared values in driving positive change.

Finally, thank you to all the voters for recognizing her potential and for believing in a leader who truly represents our interests. Together, we can achieve great things!

  2. Congratulations on your winning run for office. You have the talent and the inquiring temperament to guide the diverse citizens of your Senatorial District into a successful and participating future. Gather often and informally at least on occasion. Listen to the questions and requests. Stimulate the aspirations and the curiosity of the citizenry.
Totals from the City for Harris as candidate were a weak 2997. TOTAL from 40,000 Dems, 4,400 GOP, and 20,000 unaffiliated. Shameful? Are the records incomplete or incorrect? Where was the local DTC? Creating
    outcomes?Time will tell.

      1. Congratulations, Sujata! [A lot of work for you to do — maybe make traffic safety an early initiative. We need a lot of sidewalk and wider, safer bike lanes in Bridgeport’s North End and southern Trumbull (e.g., Chopsey Hill Road, Old Town Road, Main Street, Lakeside Drive, Frenchtown Road, et al..) for pedestrian safety — and residents can’t afford to pay for and maintain them. That would be a good-sized state project to bring home right away…]
