Snow Emergency Continues

As today’s winter storm continues, Bridgeport, Conn. Mayor Bill Finch is urging residents to abide by the ongoing snow emergency that has been in place since midnight.

“Thanks to Bridgeporters for their cooperation with parking restrictions associated with our snow emergency. As the storm presses on, I’m asking folks across our city to heed this advice: stay home, stay safe, and if you have to travel, be smart,” said Mayor Finch.

Public facilities crews in Bridgeport remain hard at work plowing and sanding streets across the city.

BConnected
Mayor Finch is also urging residents who are having parking issues, questions about the snow emergency, or do not believe their street has been plowed to use Bridgeport’s BConnected service.

“BConnected is our one-stop-shop for Bridgeporters to request services from their government. I urge all residents to communicate with us through this service. We’re here to serve, and this is a great tool for communicating any issues in the community.”

BConnected services can be accessed three different ways: 1) Download the BConnected App on your smartphone, 2) Visit BConnected online at www.bridgeportct.gov/bconnected, or 3) Call the BConnected hotline at 203-576-1311.

Weather update
According to the National Weather Service, snow and sleet are expected to continue until 4:00PM, and at that time will change to all snow. Precipitation is expected to end before 6:00PM. There will be blowing and drifting snow into the night, and tomorrow will be mostly sunny with a high of around 22 degrees.

“These tough weather conditions show that there is a high likelihood roads will be slick tonight,” said Mayor Finch.

Bridgeport schools
Bridgeport Public Schools are closed today.

“Thanks to Superintendent Rabinowitz for her leadership. Kids are rightly at home today, staying safe, warm, and healthy in the midst of adverse weather conditions,” said Mayor Finch.

Parking
During the snow emergency, there is no parking on any of the designated Snow Emergency Streets, and all vehicles on other streets across the city are to park on the even-side of the street.

If you are unable to find street parking during the snow emergency, the following parking lots are available:
Ø All schools during off hours.
Ø Surface parking lots across the street from the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
Ø North End Library, 3455 Madison Ave.
Ø Veterans Memorial Park (entrance off Madison Avenue)
Ø Municipal Parking Lot located on the corner of Fairfield Avenue and Jetland Street (adjacent to 2895 Fairfield Ave.)
Ø Health Department at 752 East Main St.
Ø Lot adjacent to the former Waltersville School, 95 Gilmore St.

Other
Garbage and recycling pickups scheduled for today has been cancelled today, and pickup will be pushed back one day this week.

Bridgeport’s Transfer Station is closed today.

Bridgeport’s Veterans Bus will not be in service today.
