When Democrats in Bridgeport, Trumbull and Monroe head to early voting in 20 days and then polling places on August 13 to pick a Democrat to replace a retiring Marilyn Moore in Connecticut’s 22nd District the sample ballot attached is what they’ll see to fill in an oval.
Note on the top line: no party endorsement. That’s because in May convention delegates created an open primary in which four candidates – City Councilman Scott Burns, former Mayor Bill Finch, ex councilman Tyler Mack and law school professor Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox – secured sufficient support to qualify for the August ballot, but none enough backing for endorsement
How did election officials arrive at the order? On the surface the B in Burns and W in Wilcox (if working off the W) appears alphabetical. What a genius observation. An inquiry has been made to confirm.
Seven days of early voting commences August 5. For Bridgeport electors at Margaret Morton Government Center, 999 Broad Street. August 5th 7th 9th 10th and 11th from 10 AM to 6 PM. August 6 and August 8 extended hours from 8 AM to 8 PM.
Lennie, take an IOB poll, 🙂
Look Lennie! Robert Teixeira has a good idea. A “W” can = a win. Vote Bottom Line is as simple a direction as Vote the Top.
Here’s an old school Absentee Ballot voter trick:
If you can’t get the voter to vote the bottom line, flip the Ballot up-side-down and let em vote the top line.
Very little platform information circulating, in regard to the candidates other than Gadkar-Wilcox. She has some definite references to what she might do for Bridgeport, if elected… But, with all of the talk of “regionalization” initiatives, I’m more worried about what the candidates might seek to do TO Bridgeport, if elected. The growth and progress of the burbs has always come at great expense to Bridgeport, and has played a great role in its continuing road to demise…
We need a state senator who will be willing to intercede for Bridgeport and take measures to protect us from upstream development ambitions that damage basic safety, quality of life, and tax-base bottom-line. We haven’t had that in several decades. We also need reparation/remediation for damage already done…. We need a real Bridgeporter to fight for us, even as they make the “region” better by increasing Bridgeport’s vitality and value to the region, in that regard, even as they mitigate problems that flow into Trumbull/the ‘burbs, due to Bridgeport’s demise.
What does Scott Burns have in mind to make Bridgeport, and the “region” (22nd District) better for EVERYONE in the 22nd?
Any debates scheduled between the candidates before the Pirmary?
Well said, Jeff.
I mean BG. 🙂

Jeff, do you see anyone on the ballot that fits your assessment?
It’s difficult to make any “assessments” without substantially more information — regarding my stated/implied criteria for an “acceptable” state senate candidate for the 22nd…. There are many important district issues that require recognition and a “posture” thereof from the candidates. Very little o substance from any of the candidates in this regard, so far….
