School Leadership Bringing Community Forums To Housing Complexes

News release from Bridgeport public schools:

Bridgeport Public Schools is deepening its connection with the local community by hosting a series of Community Forums in Bridgeport Public Housing Complexes. This initiative is part of an ongoing commitment to collaborate with parents, families, and residents to create a stronger, more supportive environment for Bridgeport’s children.

Interim Superintendent Dr. Royce Avery and district leaders will visit three public housing complexes this spring to listen directly to the concerns of families, share information about district programs, and gather invaluable feedback on how the district can better serve the community. The goal is to build stronger partnerships with families and community members, ensuring that every child in Bridgeport receives the support they need to succeed.

“We’re changing how we engage with our community. It’s not enough to stay in our offices and wait for feedback — we’re meeting families where they live, where their concerns and hopes for their children are front and center,” said Dr. Royce Avery. “We understand that to truly help our students thrive, we must partner with parents, guardians, and community members to address their needs, listen to their ideas, and work together to improve education in meaningful ways.”

These forums are a direct invitation for Bridgeport residents to participate in the conversation about their children’s education. Dr. Avery and district leaders will be available to provide information, answer questions, and engage in discussions about how the district can better support students and families in ways that meet the unique needs of each neighborhood.

    1. All right Coach T, I’ve been stretching for two (2) hours now. That’s twice as long as the scheduled meeting time. Can I hit the shower now?

  2. This is a fantastic idea. Reach out to the communities that have been or felt that their children have been underserved by the educational system. Let the parents meet and develop a relationship with those people making the decisions and working to get the needed funds and support for their children. I only see a win win situation here. An honest exchange of wants and needs of the children and having a high probability of the system doing the best that they can do deliver can’t hurt. Give the man a chance to prove himself.

    1. No need to give him a chance. By setting these meetings, he has given himself the chance. The problem here, he has set a very small amount if time. One (1) hour for meetings set-up in Bridgeport Housing Projects only, hoping that all Bridgeport school district parents take time to attend. Where would they park IF they were to show up? Does the Doctor speak or understands Spanish? I’m yet to hear him hablar español. As soon as they/he reads this, Lennie will received a communication correcting this BLUFF.
