Oops! Pastoral Endorsements For Moales Fizzle

State Senate candidate Ken Moales’ “huge community announcement and press release with the IMA & Hispanic Pastoral” did not materialize today. More from CT Post scribe Brian Lockhart:

The most obvious take away from the email is that Moales was expecting to be endorsed by the IMA and the Hispanic Pastoral Alliance.

The latter’s support would be significant because it could siphon votes away from one of Moales’ opponents, City Councilman Richard DeJesus, who has lost at least a little support in the Latino community because of his personal financial problems.

But on Wednesday morning Moales’ campaign manager, Kirk Wesley, said there would be no press conference.

  1. But on Wednesday morning Moales’ campaign manager Kirk Wesley said there would be no press conference.
    “That was premature,” Wesley said.
    Are endorsements forthcoming?
“All that stuff will unveil itself in due time,” he said.

Mr. Wesley is an interesting figure in the mix. He worked for Dennis Bradley for a time last year. Then jumped from that ship (with some ‘supplies’ it has been reported) and has attended meetings recently challenging folks organizing against the incumbent. Has he secured some City contracts for his business? Are his interests conflicted, or focused on the personal rewards?

At least he is now learning the meaning of my regular sign-off, as he talks “about unveiling in due time.” Time will tell.

  2. Wesley is the kind of guy who makes you want to shower after encountering him. Smarmy, transparent and glib. Believes his own press, and not fooling many.

Water seeks its own level. Slime is technically a liquid so I guess the same must be true for it.

  3. Kirk Wesley is a very smart man and he understands how Bridgeport really works. Not what you know but who you know. He was the campaign manager for Pastor Moales’ board of education campaign and he is a very good organizer and will do well in a multi-candidate race dependent upon prime voters turning out in the winter. Too bad he is working for the absolute worst candidate. People may not like his candidate but do not underestimate Kirk’s talent.

  4. yellowdog dem,
Perhaps you are a regular reader, but not poster, and avid Bridgeport political follower. But if you are talented and ‘a very smart man,’ maybe you can tell us why you are “working for the absolute worst candidate?” Since Bridgeport has had some candidates for public office with a lot of baggage recently, what in your opinion makes Reverend Moales the worst to run for public office? When folks figure out how to energize the “passive registered voters” rather than merely the ‘prime voters,’ the status quo will have changed, the status quo Bridgeport candidates have milked for so long to maintain the status quo, with a City divided, pennies for people at election time, a few jobs for the faithful and hype for the rest of us. After the watchdogs get barking and the whistles are blowing, do you think it will be the same? Time will tell.
