2023 mayoral candidate Lamond Daniels issued a statement on Thursday calling into question the news release kicked out by State Senate candidate Scott Burns, a member of the City Council, claiming an endorsement from Daniels.
In a statement below, Daniels who co-hosted a fundraiser for Burns, clarifies that he has not issued an endorsement and will not back anyone publicly in the August 13 Democratic primary in the 22nd Senatorial featuring Burns, Quinnipiac University law professor Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, former Mayor Bill Finch and ex council member Tyler Mack.
The district of a retiring Marilyn Moore encompasses about one third of Bridgeport, all of Trumbull and southern Monroe.
It has come to my attention that there has been some confusion regarding a recent endorsement made by the Burns’ Campaign. I want to clarify that this endorsement was not authorized by me, and I regret any misunderstanding this may have caused.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Scott Burns for his incredible support during my mayoral campaign. His dedication and belief in my vision have been truly invaluable, and I cannot thank him enough for his commitment.
Because there are multiple people in the race for state senate with whom I have long-standing relationships and respect, I have decided not to make an endorsement at this time, this decision in no way diminishes Scott’s candidacy for state senate. I genuinely believe in his abilities and the positive impact he brings to our community.

Burns also supported the 50 unit housing project on Fairfield and Courtland Ave (NRZ) as well as the UI’s Monopole project, anyone can be the smartest guy on this council.
I’ll take that back, anyone but Burns!
