Malloy-Lamont Get Tighter

From today’s Q Poll:

Less than one week before the Connecticut primary, former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy trails businessman Ned Lamont 45 – 40 percent in the race for the Democratic nomination for governor, according to a Quinnipiac University poll of Democratic likely primary voters released today.

This compares to a 46 – 37 percent Lamont lead in a July 15 survey by the independent Quinnipiac University. In today’s survey, 14 percent are undecided and 43 percent of those who choose a candidate say they might change their mind before the August 10 primary.

Among Republican likely primary voters, Lt. Gov. Mike Fedele trails former ambassador Tom Foley 41 – 26 percent, surging from a 48 – 13 percent deficit July 15. Oz Griebel has 13 percent. In this fluid race, 21 percent remain undecided and 62 percent of those who choose a candidate say they might change their mind in the next six days.

Oh what fun, Tsunami Tuesday just around the corner and we’ll be talking about it tonight 6:30 at the Black Rock Library. Join former Post scribes John Gilmore, Jim Callahan and little ol’ me for a chat about primaries past and present and handicapping the Tuesday match-ups. It’s free to get in and by the time we’re done you’ll be asking us for money! (Or a drink.)

So it’s getting a little edgy out there as races tighten in both the Democratic and GOP primaries. City Councilman Bob “Troll” Walsh, a Lamont supporter, has filed an elections complaint against the Malloy campaign. www.theday.com/article/20100804/INTERACT010403/100809828

Check out these adoring slams from the Dan Malloy and Ned Lamont campaigns.

  1. Hey Lennie, my parents were telling me about some of the physical confrontations that have occurred in past elections. During one of Mandanici’s campaigns they held a dance to bring awareness to the campaign at “sokul hall” owned by Tito Ayala at the time and a big fight (there were weapons involved) ensued, in one of Tom Bucci’s campaigns Alvin Penn was assaulted as they walked (caravan) down Pembroke St., the infamous Rizzitelli/Testo throw down and a few more. While they could only remember snippets of what happened, you and your fellow scribes could possibly offer more intense details tonight.

  2. OK … I’ll start … inquire tonight about a city official and a First Family member who yanked pistols on a kid waving a knife outside a Main Street mayoral campaign headquarters … then there were the vast number of weapons CARRIED in City Hall (and mostly by non-cops) prompting a mayoral decree to leave guns at home … And the beat goes on!

Weapons are carried and used in City Hall ’til this very day.

    1. No I don’t have to vote absentee. I will only be working the polls for 4 hours but will give a count when I am done. Don’t know yet who else I will vote for.

  5. I think you’re all nuts if you vote Lamomt, he’s just a rich boy stampin’ his feet for power. He said he wont tax the rich so screw the middle class and he’s against unions, unions are what made America strong.

  7. The Candidate for sec of state is clear and he is Gerry Garcia; he has addressed all of the issues. Denise Merrill on the other hand has just been dodging questions left to right about early voting!!! Vote Garcia.
