As Mayor Joe Ganim ponders selection of a new chief of police, an outside law firm has issued an executive summary about its finding involving two of the three finalists. Captain Lonnie Blackwell filed complaints against Acting Chief Rebeca Garcia for alleged discrimination and retaliation.
In its review, Jackson Lewis, an independent law hired by the city, determined that Garcia’s treatment did not establish workplace discrimination but added that an internal investigation of Blackwell was improper and that discipline in that matter should be vacated.
Retired Captain Roderick Porter is the third finalist from whom Ganim will choose a new chief to a five-year term of service.
For background see here.
The city released this communication Friday afternoon:
LOL.
So the finding was that Garcia didn’t do workplace discrimination or retaliation against Blackwell. But they also concluded that the OIA investicaton that Blackwell claim was retaliation against him finding should and discipline on the matter should be vacated.
WWWHHAATT?
Where do this fall in the line of Police accountability when incident in question was when a cop (white) blantankWhere does this fall in the line of Police Accountability when the incident in question was when a cop (white) blatantly pistoled whipped a young black man in the back of the head when he was fooling his orders?

I wonder if the Guardian and the NAACP would have been so vocal to claim retaliation if Capozziello’s supervising officer was white. 🙂
I mean, no one, The Gardian, NAACP or Jackson Lewis P.C is questioning the OIA investigation, finding and discipline actions Garcia placed on Officer Capozziello, Jesus People. politics 🤣
To be honest I am surprise the Gardian/NAACP wasn’t asking/demaning Capozzielo be fired. JS SMH People.

Lennie delete, 🙂
Here goes the one-eye prick again. It says the OIA investigation was “improper”, NOT “retaliation”. Rebecca Garcia ordered the investigation based on a complaint, she did not conduct the investigation. Is this all they reported? How about giving details as to how they concluded that the investigation was improper. It sounds as if the investigation was incomplete. But, then again, upon looking with both my eyes, it’s an “Executive Summary”.
“In its review, Jackson Lewis, an independent law fired hired by the city,…”
Which one is it Lennie, fired or hire? Lennie, I recently was informed that Felipe is no longer my Representative. The Way I see it, I was cut off from runing for State Rep. Jn the 130th. I made it clear that if I was to run, I’d run as Democrat and would primary if necessary. Same stands for the 129th district where the district line was moved. I haven’t seen any of the election literature or anything notifying anyone of this change, let alone informing us as to what school we vote in.
Good catch Speedy. I was not on speed when I typed fired/hired.

Slow down there Speedy. You’re going off the rails. 🙂
I believe Blackwell claimed the OIA investigation was based on discrimination and relatiation by which she order an investigation on him and his role as supervor capacity to the officer regarding the August incident in which a officer under his supervision pistoled whipped an unarmed, cooperation young black male, among other things in his law suit.
My point being (I believe) that Jackson Lewis P.C was to investigate teh validity of Blackwell Claims of discrimination in the workplace and retaliation for the OIA investigation. If it was improper then it was retaliation which they said it wasn’t.
What’s improper to initiate an investigate on officers that were involve to an incident caught on camera that left a unarmed black male being blatantly being pistoled whipped for no reason by an officer and who supervised him.
Hence! WWWHHAT
Besides the politics of it and the blue that governs it. It’s questionable that Garcia crossed that line, but when politics is involved. It is what it is and it is what it isn’t. JS

You are not wondering–you’re hearing voices in your head.
I don’t knwo if it’s the voices in my head, but it’s jsut I often been hearing people say about the
police we want someone who looks like us (people in the community) Garcia being a person of color (Brown) you have wondered that would have fit the bill. Yet here we are wondering if Garcia is minority enough.
When you read black organizations making eloquent but racist claims where white officers’ mistreatment is attached to black officers’ racist claims and mistreatment within the department against another person of color. When black and brown people turned into black and white in the race card being played. Being white it jsut sound/seems things maybe disingenuous. at times, But that’s politics right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2X-qQ-uMW8
It does make you wonder.
Peace out people, place nice, I’m out of here.

Final thoughts on this voting day and the LOGICAL-est of it all, outside of wine-stashing AJ. 🙂
Let’s be honest and say race is on the front burner. You know this because when you have the historically black organization, NAACP state we don’t care which black candidate is chosen as long as it’s not the Brown candidate, citing racist claims and mistreatment of not just black officers but white ones as well.
Historically, being white, you always read black racist claims and mistreatment accusations come from whites about black and brown people. So it was a surprise to read whites were in the same camp as blacks of racist mistreatment. I wonder if that will be part of the CRT curriculum. Jesus Christ, people. 🙂
However, let’s look at those anything-but-brown candidates for Chief. You have, (I believe) the vice president of a black organization within the BPD, the Guardians, making and filing suit about the racist workplace, retaliation, and mistreatment against Garcia (Brown). Specifically, an OIA investigation on officers/supervisors involved in a police abuse incident in which a white officer blatantly pistoled whipped an unarmed, none treating young black male in the back of the head for valid reason whatsoever.
I wonder if this white officer was one of the white officers in the Guardians/NAACP claim of Garica discipline mistreatment action against black and white officers.
This is the same person/candidate who was implicated by another black officer in a racist criminal hate crime against fellow white officers, To be fair whiteness in general, 🙂 with the dissemination of racist letters and (nooses I believe) placed around/in the BPD against black and brown officers.
The officer who disseminated the racist letter against the white officer and implicated the Guardian candidate for chief, as the person who told him to do it was himself involved in a high-profile police abuse charge/case that was caught on another cell phone of a beating in Bearsley Park.
The other black Guadian member and (I believe) president of the Guardians was standing behind Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Stefanowski’s endorsement by BPD’s police union, who spoke about being against the Police Accountability Act. Who found himself at the opposite side of the table when he was arrested and charged with beating up and sending a resident to the hospital in a minor car accident.
CONCLUSION: There’s no LOGIC in Port politics. Happy voting day people. 🙂
