Finch Recognized By National Gun Violence Prevention Group

News release from the Finch campaign

Today, the Finch for Senate campaign announced that Bill Finch has been recognized as a 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction.

In their announcement, Moms Demand Action thanked Finch for his work, “advocating for gun violence prevention and making a commitment to govern with gun safety in mind.” Finch has long been a leader in preventing gun violence, supporting the assault weapons ban and other gun violence prevention bills, orchestrating numerous successful gun buybacks and trigger lock giveaways, and becoming one of the first Mayor in the United States to sign onto the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Alliance.

In response to the group’s announcement, Finch stated, “I am honored to be recognized as a 2024 Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate of Distinction. I will never forget the Newtown shooting. I served as Mayor of Bridgeport that day and met with Senator Chris Murphy in the morning. I was devastated by the loss of life and collaborated with our Police Chief to support regional response and assistance on that tragic day. I look forward to working with this group and others to continue to push for common-sense gun safety laws to protect our children from gun violence. Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Monroe youth deserve to be raised in neighborhoods and schools safe from the constant threat of gun violence.”
