The troubled Hartford charter school operator FUSE was dealt another blow Friday when FBI agents served it with subpoenas to a grand jury that is examining the group’s operations.
When two Courant reporters arrived at FUSE offices on Asylum Hill on Friday morning, minutes after the FBI’s visit, they saw a woman feeding sheaves of documents into a shredder.
A receptionist in the Jumoke-owned building told the reporters that they needed to “get off the premises” and declined to comment when asked about the FBI. Asked what was being shredded, she said the documents were associated with the state-subsidized Jumoke charter schools.

Mayor Finch, Vallas and Moales were instrumental in bringing in Family Urban Schools of Excellence to take over the management of Dunbar School for the outrageous management fee of $435,000 per year for approximately 300 students. To put that into perspective, Fran Rabinowitz is managing 20,000 students for $190,000 per year. In addition, the New London Board of Education is supposed to vote on a new superintendent this Monday. The Hartford Courant just exposed he has been calling himself a “Dr.” for over five years and does not have a doctorate. He was recommended by all the usual deformers including Arnie Duncan, Obama’s Secretary of Education, Commissioner Pryor, Steve Adamonswki etc. He is from Chicago (Vallas country) and is a proponent of charter schools and privatization. Who knows, he might be a relative of “Dr.” Sharpe, the former CEO of FUSE.
