Don’t Spill The Beans Baby! – A Pasta Soup Contest, What Say You, Fazool Or Fagioli?

With so many magical varieties, Italians marinate in beans. Yes, they can transform your belly into a trombone, but just think of it as a nutritious musical horn section.

Italian dialects are so vast they can cause linguistic whiplash. Depending on the region it can be fagioli or it can be fasul, more commonly pronounced fazool (not to be confused with fanculo). They all mean the same – beans.

The wonderful thing about this dish, it can take on so many variations, ingredients and flavors. It can be a vegetarian soup. Saute pancetta and oh, my! It’s inexpensive to make and goes a long way.

It is quite simply the Swiss army knife of soups.
