East End City Councilwoman Eneida Martinez on Friday paid a $500 fine and made a $1,000 charitable donation to resolve a case nearly five years old accused of violating pandemic restrictions at the Keystone club on Barnum Avenue on the night 21-year-old Nyair Nixon was shot to death.
Martinez did not face any charges connected to Nixon’s death but the shooting inside the club brought extensive media coverage at the venue Martinez managed as a bring-your-own-booze destination in the summer of 2020. Martinez shut down the establishment after the incident.
Superior Court Judge Maria del Pilar had recently rejected Martinez’s application for probation ruling Martinez held a position of trust in the community that did not meet the threshold for accelerated rehabilitation.
Instead, Martinez told OIB Friday afternoon, the judge allowed her “nolo contendere,” (no contest) an often used plea bargain that does not admit guilt but accepts penalty for a crime, in this case a $500 fine for misdemeanor reckless endangerment for violation of the governor’s executive order during Covid.
Martinez wrote on her Facebook page:
All THANKS to the ALMIGHTY FATHER up above.
Four long years of ASSASSINATION OF MY CHARACTER…
DONE!!!!
Martinez also paid a $1,000 fine to the court that will go to a charitable donation at the court’s discretion.
Martinez was represented by Bridgeport lawyer John Gulash, among the top criminal defense attorneys in Connecticut.
Police had charged 38-year-old Charles Young with Nixon’s murder, a trial that took a dramatic twist recently when a judge declared a mistrial after prosecutors informed the court Young aided the killing but did not pull the trigger. So Young will be retried for aiding the killing. The man accused of the murder is in federal lockup for unrelated charges.
Wow. It took five years for that you could’ve done that the day after what a joke.
“All THANKS to the ALMIGHTY FATHER up above.

That simple! Her own actions leads to a murder which will NOT lead to a conviction of the person responsible as she tampered with evidence and obstructed justice. She completely destroyed any chance for the State Prosecutor to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the quilt of anyone charged in the future. What “God” could possibly be on her side?
“Martinez did not face any charges connected to Nixon’s death but the shooting…”
It was covered up! The detectives determined to charge her with destruction of evidence among other serious charges, were discouraged to say the least. Eneida Martinez, your inmate number is 1500.
