Tom Coble, director of the city’s Neighborhood Revitalization/Anti-Blight Program, was escorted out of City Hall Annex by police following his suspension on Wednesday over a series of allegations including his involvement with the city’s Community Development Block Grant program.
Coble has been active in city politics for decades. East End District Leader Ralph Ford is his political benefactor. The city generally does not share information regarding personnel matters, but typically a suspended employee will follow the process of a hearing before the city’s Labor Relations Department to address allegations before a determination is made about employment future.
The allegations were serious enough city officials summoned police to escort Coble out of the building. The CDBG program, funded by the federal Housing and Urban Development, includes a maize of paperwork. Coble’s work responsibilities comes in contact with the program administered by the city’s Central Grants & Community Development. Messing around with the paperwork, or not doing the paperwork, can lead to loss of federal grant money, or worse. The folks in charge of the program don’t want the federal government breathing down their necks. Program details here.

You have got to love this!!! Finch suspends Coble AFTER the election.
Tom Coble is one of the DTC’s biggest street operators when it comes to elections. So Finch waits until all of the dirty work is done before showing him the door.
Arrogance amok.
Finch now believes he is invincible.
Guess our friend city hall smoker called out the fire alarm on this yesterday. Would chs agree with me, given the stellar reputation for honesty and integrity in handling taxpayer dollars, this arrest comes as such a surprise …
We would be shocked … just shocked to think any other person in the Finch administration would be so greedy and so arrogantly demonstrate what the essence of corruption is for a DTC-trained politician in the Bridgeport city government system.
And we would not expect to see this happen again to anyone in this upstanding administration!
Hats off to John Marshall Lee when he says:
Time will tell.
What arrest are you referring to?
DTC training? That must be some good training program to have everyone dispose of their political and public moral obligations, but then again the DTC seems so inbred–maybe, as Lady Gaga once said in Little Rock, Arkansas–they are born that way?
This couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. He often called city vendors and placed orders on a “city capacity” and then wouldn’t submit the bills to the city because he wasn’t authorized to be doing it in the first place. Then he avoids paying the people and dodges any responsibility. Great Guy.
Great Guy is the only accurate statement in this reply.
Actually that was the only untruth in the whole statement. Coble is a slimeball and scumbag who abused his appointment with the city. As a vendor with the city I know firsthand what this scumbag pulls.
Coble is a very hardworking man and worked with no support from the Finch Administration or scumbag and slimebag vendors like you!
Yes, real upstanding guy, maybe he should have physically threatened the mayor, like he does with anyone who disagrees with him. Hey Truth, what are you, his mother?
Maybe he will get a job at the Ford Dealership in the East End.
On the behalf of Cory Bromley (Inland & Wetland, Administrative Assistant), I would like to announce the untimely death of her mother, Lucille Bruno, former Registrar of Voters. Arrangements to be announced at a later date.
Sorry to hear of the passing of Lucille Bruno. I ran into her about a month ago at Shop Rite and she still had that smile on her face.
Hey burman, if you knew Coble first hand, you wouldn’t ask that question!
Truth, I met the guy and dealt with him. Few people (if any) at city hall have anything nice to say about the guy. Apparently you didn’t read my very first post where the guy tries to use his job to get things for free, for himself.
