Consumer Treadwear–Scully To DMV Commissioner Andres Ayala: Get Out

Ayala, Malloy
Ayala, at podium, was appointed DMV chief by Malloy.

The public exhaust fumes from irritating tie-ups in the Department of Motor Vehicles has cast heat on commissioner Andres Ayala, Bridgeport resident and former state senator, appointed by Governor Dan Malloy. Patrick Scully, who hosts the Hanging Shad political blog, has placed his foot on the accelerator calling for Ayala’s resignation.

From Scully:

The very fundamental purpose of state government is to provide essential services like education, roads, the national guard and various others. When one fails to do the job, it’s the responsibility of the governor and state legislature to fix the problem. The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles is failing miserably and has become synonymous with wasted time and government failure. It’s an absolute joke. An immediate housecleaning is needed starting with Commissioner Andres Ayala, a former Democratic state senator. He should resign immediately. If he won’t, he should be fired.

A “computer upgrade,” “switchover” or “roll out” have lost their usefulness as excuses. The problems date to the summer when wait times at DMV branches stretched into hours.

There’s no excuse. A department that conjures up thoughts of arrogance and indifference now simply connotes incompetence. Anecdotal stories abound.

When talk surfaced in the summer that the DMV was not properly prepared for the number of undocumented immigrants in the state that would apply for drivers’ licenses, the department pulled a Nixonian move and tried to cover it up. They actually told driver school instructors to deny that the new license applications were the problem.

  1. *** I really don’t think Ayala’s been on the job that long, or a computer mess-up with new programming to help speed things up at the DMV and on-line can be blamed squarely on Ayala! It’s a problem of just too many people, too soon to absorb so many applications and overall computer inputs in general. If anyone must get fired it should be those responsible in the IT dept that worked and accepted the flawed new computer program. These things must be tested on a smaller venue first to see what gremlins may pop up. There have always been lines and different problems at the DMVs around the state. To blame a new DMV commissioner for all the problems from the past ’til now is like blaming the Bpt BOE for all the student overcrowding in the schools past and present. It’s easy to point the finger and shout foul on that play even if you don’t really know the game! ***

    1. Ralph, you’re right to a point. I wish Andre would have reached out to the State for assistance with these new practices. Andre’s a competent man, and it’s unfortunate one of our own most likely inherited problems that were just waiting for the next commissioner.

  2. It’s not fair to play pin the tail on the donkey with Andres. Former DMV Currey has burrowed her head in the sand on this deal, leaving Ayala holding the bag and looking like a burro. She’s no Madame Curie!

  3. The article states, “Gov. Dannel Malloy has been taking some heat from critics for allegedly concentrating his energy on the national scene–acting as a surrogate for Hillary Clinton, getting serious facetime as the head of the Democratic Governors Association.” Malloy did the same thing four years ago which President Obama won his reelection, there was Malloy all over TV especially “Morning Joe” acting like a surrogate for Obama as if Obama needed Malloy to speak for him. Malloy thought he was important showing up on TV but he needed to do the job he was elected for, which he is doing a terrible job.

  4. Ayala, you are fired. You incompetent troll. What experience do you have to lead the DMV?
    Exactly. None.
Time to go and let someone who knows the system take charge.
We all know the only reason you got the job was as payback from Mamalloy.
Wait, I forgot. Your good friend Finch is no longer in office to give you a job. That means if you get fired by Mamalloy, you don’t have anywhere to go. Hahahaha.
What goes around comes around. If you have any dignity, you will resign for such a debacle. You don’t have clue what’s going on. But since you have none we’ll continued to pay the price at the DMV branches’ lines.

  5. *** What exactly is the experience needed to be the State DMV Commissioner I wonder? Working as a DMV clerk first or how about a DMV Safety Inspector? Or maybe a DMV Union Rep and worker with a certificate to hang on the wall? Many of these government political jobs only require some common sense with the ability to ask questions or ask for help when problems arise the staff around you may have a problem dealing with. But maybe it’s just too much for an ex-high school and adult education teacher, plus school administrator to handle, no? *** SOUNDS LIKE A PERSONAL GRUDGE? ***

  6. Mojón–
You are absolutely right. “Many of these government political jobs only require some common sense with the ability to ask questions or ask for help when problems arise.”
He does not have any common sense and does not have the ability to ask questions.
On top of that he is a liar. Claimed to live in one place when everyone knew he lived with the troll girlfriend of his.
BTW, the spelling of your OIB name was done on purpose.
