Grab the kids, the grandkids, your neighbors, friends and favorite politician and head over to Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Saturday morning for the Barnum Festival Wing Ding parade for children. Zoo admission is free until noon.
P. T. Barnum proclaimed “I am prouder of my title The Children’s Friend than if I were to be called The King of the World.”
Barnum’s legacy of entertaining children lives on with the Barnum Festival Wing Ding Parade Saturday morning June 14 at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo featuring a costumed kids parade of floats made from strollers, wagons, boxes, and more. Cash prizes, trophies and ribbons will be awarded for Cutest, Most Patriotic, Best in Show, Most Elaborate, Best Animal Theme, Best Group, Most Clever and Best Costume.
“What a great way to show off your creativity while spending time with the kids,” says Barnum Festival Ringmaster Paul Timpanelli. “Children of all ages are invited.”
“Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo is one of the great destinations in the state,” says Barnum Festival Executive Director Elaine K. Ficarra. “This is such a fun family event with hundreds of children and their parents participating and relatives and neighbors there to cheer them on.”
During the Wing Ding spectators enjoy free admission to the Zoo until 12 noon. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the parade starts at 11 a.m. SHARP! Award presentations will follow parade.
