From State Rep. Andres Ayala:
State Rep. Andres Ayala (D-Bridgeport), Chair of the Bridgeport legislative delegation, applauded Governor Dannel Malloy’s announcement that 130 new early childhood slots have been identified for Bridgeport, meaning that state funding will be provided for pre-school opportunities for additional young people from the city.
The new slots are part of the education reform legislation passed by the General Assembly and signed by Governor Malloy this spring.
“I am pleased to see a good team effort pay off in an invaluable benefit towards our children’s education,” Rep. Ayala said. “During the last few days of the regular session, the Black and Latino legislators worked diligently to ensure our concerns were addressed in the education reform package that was passed. It is a great start toward closing the achievement gap.”
According to the state Department of Education, grants for the new slots in Bridgeport will be as follows:
Public Schools – Read (40 slots)
Kindgom’s Little Ones Academy (60 slots)
St. Paul’s (10 slots)
Precious Memories (20 slots)
In making the announcement, Governor Malloy said, “Early education provides the foundation for the future success of our children, and the assignment of the 1,000 new school readiness slots marks yet another important step toward improving the overall quality of education throughout the State of Connecticut. By focusing the new slots in high-needs areas, we are affirming our commitment to turning around struggling school districts. It won’t happen overnight, but the steps we are taking today will make sure that we close the nation’s largest achievement gap.”
Far be it for me to outthink all the political junkies posting on this blog, but doesn’t it seem the “Fat and Stupid” Mr. Ayala brings TONS to the table?
Obviously close to the Governor, backed by the Mayor, knows everyone in Hartford, would equal a huge benefit for our beloved City of Bridgeport.
Of course if no one else on here posting hasn’t figured this out, could little ol’ me be right?
Thank you Auden Grogins …
State Representative Auden Grogins (D-Bridgeport) released the following statement on Bridgeport receiving funding for an additional 130 pre-K School Readiness seats:
“School readiness is a proven means of improving the educational success for young children,” said Rep. Auden Grogins. “I’ve seen it work within Bridgeport with great success since we created the program and am happy to see it expand to include even more children and reduce the waiting list for these important services.”
