Democrat David Chess defeated two-term Republican Mayor Laura Hoydick, according to unofficial returns.
Chess, 7879, Hoydick, 6450.
From Chess Facebook page:
We did it, Stratford.
Tonight, we made history. Thank you for believing in the power of community, compassion, and progress. This campaign was never about one person, it was about all of us, standing together for a better future.
To every volunteer who knocked doors, made calls, donated, and never gave up: this victory belongs to you.
Tomorrow, we get to work – because the best days for Stratford are still ahead.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.-Mayor Elect Chess

When one beats Mayor Adams, Sliwa, Cuomo, Donald Trump, Connecticut Gov. Lamont, and Elon Musk, you don’t get just a mandate–but a Mandamidate.
Joel, can we call this a Tsumanda? 😉
“We did it, Stratford.
Tonight, we made history…”
Bullshit! Over 30 years (1994) ago, I joined an opposition group against a City Councilmen in the 137th. District. The Councilmem was Rafael Irizary and for a long while he has been falibg short of a comeback. Rafael moved to Stratford and switched Republican where he has been trying to get elected for anything. The history-setting record here goes to Rafael Irizary as the longest office seeking person (living) I can think of.
