Suliman Returns To City Council, Holds Off Surging Medina

In a 12-7 vote Monday night, the City Council tapped Samia Suliman to fill the vacancy of a  resigning JazMarie Melendez following a spirited effort by community organizer Keyla Medina, wife of Board of Education member Willie Medina, to represent the Upper East Side 138th District.

Suliman had previously served on the council.

Several Medina supporters, including herself, addressed the council during the public speaking portion of the session. Medina, a senior operations and projects manager at Make the Road CT, was cheered on by roughly 50 supporters in the council chambers. See video above.

There was a lot of back and forth by council members regarding their respective preferences prior to the vote.

This is an election year for school board and City Council so Medina has an opportunity to wage a council primary in September. Will she join forces with Maria Pereira, the other representative of the 138th?

The votes for Suliman: Alfredo Castillo, Eneida Martinez, Ernie Newton, Fred Hodges, AmyMarie Vizzo-Paniccia, Maria Valle, Yolanda Smith, Mary McBride-Lee, Denese Taylor-Moye, Richard Ortiz, Aidee Nieves, Jeanette Herron.

Votes for Medina: Scott Burns, Matt McCarthy, Jorge Cruz, Aikeem Boyd, Dasha Spell, Maria Pereira, Michelle Lyons.

  1. Dose anybody find it ironic, to say the least, that Maria, who was arrested and is standing trail for AB ballot fraud in the election that gave her the victory over Samia. Is leading the “flock” against Samia in the vacate CC seat? 🙂

You did see MP come out from her CC seat to lead the “flock” up the to the podium, right? 🤣

Yet, sides are drawn, people support aligned, the lost side calling the process corrupted, in one from or another over the contender who was being lead by the CC member who is on trial for ballot fraud that stole the election for the Samia, allegedly, Not to mention, who has been sectioned by the vary CC that is voting on, said replacement. 🙂

Yeah, their no bias, corrupted, unjust minded, special interest sides in Port Politics. 🤣

I said it many times and I’ll say it again. Port politics and it players/advocacies groups don’t give a shit about corruption or injustice as long as it goes your way, it’s the political way. No malice here, people, Good Job people. Good luck Port.🤣

P.S don’t forget to invoke and quote God your disingenuous ways. 🤣

No real stands, just pointing out the obvious.

Free Maria, so she can lead her non-malice “flock” 🙂
